On June 5, 2017, Apple announced the eleventh major version of iOS (iOS 11) as a successor to iOS 10. With the release of iOS 11, many iOS app developers in India began to wonder about the key features and whether it would make their apps obsolete or not.
Here we will look at some of the important updates and added functionalities included in iOS 11.
Customizable Control Center
One of the most vital changes included in the new update of iOS is the user customization of the Control Center. The display screen is back to the old look of a single window taking over the whole of iPhone screen with latest bubble-styled icons. User customization is increased by enabling the 3D Touch access for almost all the Control Center settings.
More Intelligent Siri
Much like with earlier updates, iOS 11 promises a massive overhaul for Siri as well. Intelligent than ever, the updated Siri has a more natural sounding voice and many added capabilities. It can translate voice commands from English in various languages such as French, Chinese, Spanish, and Italian. Users will also be in a position to type questions for Siri.
Improved Maps App

It supports and displays full layouts of indoor places such as malls, restaurants, and airports across the world. Though currently, it is available for select indoor landmarks, Apple hopes to make its reach wider over time. The redesigned Maps app provides quick and efficient guidelines through data collected by drones.
DND While Driving
Do Not Disturb feature rolled out by Apple is one of its most glamorous features in the latest update. It cuts down and blocks all the notifications and alerts when connected via your car’s Bluetooth or wifi. But your iPhone will not be on total lockdown. For example, the CarPlay app will still work. The idea behind this is all about being safe while driving and keeping your eyes on the road. Additionally, the DND feature is also customizable such as to allow emergency texts, etc.
Drag and Drop
Owing to the latest update, the iOS developers in India are in for a treat. The all new Drag and Drop feature which was shining much on tablets and iPads have now been extended to iPhones too. It allows easy transfer of files, images, and even text between apps without the call for in-app share sheets. Drag and Drop works best in Split View mode where you can drag multiple items and drop them at the same time.
